ABB's dedicated solar pump drive family covers 0.75 to 200 kW (1 to 268 hp) with three-phase 380–480 V output and PV input up to 800 VDC. Built-in MPPT with cloud detection rides through the voltage dips of passing clouds, and the drive runs from either the PV array or AC grid/generator power — both can be connected, so the pump can keep working on grid power at night. Dry-run protection and a pump-cleaning function extend pump life.

The ACQ80 controls asynchronous, permanent-magnet and PM-assisted synchronous reluctance motors in scalar or vector control, reaching 98% efficiency at nominal power (IE2 per IEC 61800-9-2) with Safe Torque Off (SIL 3/PL e). Three constructions are available: IP20 drive modules (0.75–22 kW), IP21/IP55 wall-mounted units (30–200 kW) and IP54 cabinet-built versions. The control panel offers Bluetooth connectivity, with Modbus RTU standard and optional PROFIBUS DP, CANopen, EtherCAT, Modbus/TCP and PROFINET IO adapters.
